Character Name: Taichi Yaegashi
Series: Kokoro Connect
Age: 16
Sex/Gender: Male
Living Preference: N/A
Canon Point: End of Hito Random arc
History: http://kokoroconnect.wikia.com/wiki/Yaegashi_Taichi/Story_Plot
Personality: Taichi is a fairly laid back character who for the most part won’t let things bother him as long as no-one requires his assistance, and not always entirely perceptive of his surroundings, totally missing certain things like when in the video game Yochi Random his friends made a comment on how only someone like Taichi would get involved in helping someone out due to flimsy reasoning like “I saw a vision of the future” and him not even noticing that it was something of a backhanded insult or when he accidentally mistook Iori for Inaba after promising he would always be able to see her for who she is regardless of what body she was in towards the end of the Hito Random arc.
In a conversation earlier during the Hito Random arc, Inaba had also described him as the densest and most oblivious of their group in that it was almost impossible to get him down as he has a fairly carefree and positive outlook on things, without noticing the strain the other club members were under from Heartseed’s interference with their lives.
One of Taichi’s biggest passions in life is Pro Wrestling, he never misses a match when possible and frequently writes Pro Wrestling articles for his club newsletter. When asked about it by Inaba once, he specifically pointed out his admiration for “Jobbers”, the wrestlers who take on the job of throwing matches for the sake of more popular wrestling characters. This is also reflected in his tendency to be described as a “selfless freak”.
Like the Jobbers he admires, Taichi will always try to put the needs of others before his own. As such, he hates to see other people suffer and tends to do whatever he can to help, even if it’ll come back to bite him in the ass later, like kicking his own body in the groin to help Yui overcome her androphobia, telling Iori that no matter what persona she tries to adapt that he’ll always recognise her for her during her identity crisis and sharing his deepest darkest secret with Inaba to help her with her trust issues.
The logical extension of this trait is seen at the end of the Hito Random arc where after Heartseed claims that Iori Nagase is going to die and that one of her friends could choose to die in her place, Taichi automatically volunteers himself. Inaba at one point wonders if it could be considered a mild form of insanity and warns Taichi during the Kizu Random arc that if he isn’t careful, the unleashing of their inner desires (released by Heartseed) could result in him doing something truly reckless that might kill him.
Like the other members of the Student Cultural Society, he isn’t always entirely decisive (which led to the actual foundation of the club) and can be a bit of a pushover preferring negotiation to confrontation, however when push comes to shove he can be assertive when necessary like when he got into a heated argument with Aoki over Yui’s depression in the Kizu Random arc where he later freely admits he had gone over the line after accidentally hurting Iori for trying to break the argument up. He’s not particularly expressive most of the time either, to the point that Iori freaking out in his body was enough to convince Inaba that they had really switched.
In the earlier parts of the series, he has a rivalry with Maiko Fujishima, his class representative, over their shared attraction to Iori. While Fujishima isn’t afraid of having direct confrontations, it’s something that Taichi typically tries to avoid. Despite the occasional animosity (mostly from Fujishima’s side), Taichi and Fujishima still manage to get along for the most part, with Taichi even turning to her for advice at times despite being the self-proclaimed “competition”.
He has a close relationship with his little sister Rina, who also cares for him but considers him a bit of a pushover due to how much he accommodates her desires over his own, to the point that his other friends will jokingly refer to his “sister complex” which he vehemently denies saying that he simply cares in the same way any big brother would.
Special Abilities: None, except those temporarily granted by Heartseed.

First Person: One! Two!
Third Person: “Nagase...!” Taichi looked over the railing helplessly, still holding the girl’s phone as he watched her body fall into the river below. “I’ve got to...!” He climbs up on the railing briefly before hopping back down.
“No, I can’t just jump over after her...” Taichi reasoned with himself, then there’d just be two casualties of this event. He looked at the phone in his hand, the smart option here would be to call an ambulance. “Hello? There’s been an accident! Yes, at the bridge by the river, come quickly!”
With the phone call taken care of, Taichi immediately put the phone down in the basket of Fujishima’s borrowed bicycle, before removing his blazer, jumper and tie so he could run over to the river’s edge, kicking his shoes off as he approached the edge of the water. One thought ran through his mind as he leapt into the water ‘I have to save Nagase...!’ Even if she’d survived a fall like that, she certainly wouldn’t be in any condition to swim out of there, and the ambulance wouldn’t be any help if she’d already drowned by the time it got there.
“Where is she...? Nagase!” Taichi called out as he swam to the middle of the river before diving beneath the surface where he saw her slowly sinking body before him. Please be okay! Grabbing hold of her as best he could, he dragged the girl’s body back to the surface as he struggled to paddle back against the river’s current one handed. “Don’t you worry, help will be here soon, Nagase.”
